Cremation Urns - Glass

While meant to hold all cremation ashes from people or pets, we do always suggest removing a couple of teaspoons of ashes to use in cremation jewelry or if you want to scatter a small amount of ashes at different locations.

These lovely cremations are made by Eli, master glass blower. To create, he heats up clear glass to over 2000 degrees in a gas powered kiln. Using a long pole (punty) he grabs a gather of liquid glass and rolls it in colored frit (glass fragments) and then puts back in the kiln. Heating evenly by rolling on water cooled rollers, he then adds another layer of color to add dimensionality. With an assistant, he then blows gently into the other end of the punty to open up the semi-molten glass mass into a vessel.

He alternates between blowing and reheating until it is the proper size. Then, using wooden and graphite instruments, he will shape the urn to its final dimensions and size. It is put into an annealed, also 2000 degrees, to cool over 24 hours. The lid is made in a somewhat similar way, though paddles and tongs are used to shape and fit the lids to the urns.

After 48 hours, they are pulled from the annealed (now room temperature), packed carefully in bubble wrap and packing materials, and shipped to your door for the addition of cremated ashes.

Returns must be requested within 15 days of delivery. Once ashes are placed within, returns are no longer permissible.
